Products made with the Japanese clad steel

Here are some famous international brands that have made knives using Clad Steel, distributed in Italy by Collini Steel.

For this new exclusive collaboration with Extrema Ratio we decided to propose a best seller in the world of cutlery, the Shrapnel model. It's a satin blade version but the most important thing is that has been used, for the first time in Italy, the famous Japanese Steel San Mai produced by Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used the CoS (Cobalt Special, considered mechanically superior by 25% compared to the already appreciated VG10) for the central plate and the 420J2 (55 HRC) for the two side plates, in order to have a high cutting capacity, but at the the same time a remarkable resilience and resistance to oxidation.

Mcusta Seki Japan - sports and collectibles knives

MCUSTA knives are made in Seki City, Japan and are the pinnacle of this synthesis between traditional Japanese craftsmanship and  modern cutting edge technology.

The MCUSTA design team uses the 3D.CAM system to design new models and create prototypes. Each knife design is then meticulously inspected and then field tested. At this point the finest materials are chosen for durability, function and beauty.

MCUSTA  does not use the conventional method of die stamping their blades like most mass produced knives. Components are laser cut and C&C machined to assure the best possible precision fit. This is an important step in the production of a superior blade. Each knife is then hand assembled and hand finished and inspected by MCUSTA's team of craftsmen.

MCUSTA knives are among the finest production knives made anywhere in the world!

Tradition and History About 700 years ago, Kuniyasu Chizuru, a sword craftsman of Kyoto was searching for water that anneals excellent swords. During his journey, he happened to stay at Takefu and while there created swords and sickles. At one point Takefu was the biggest producer of agricultural tools in Japan and were sold by peddlers all around Japan. The blades were very unique to the Hokuriku area. Lacquer painters were traveling all over Japan to look for lacquer for their Echizen lacquerware. They used Takefu’s sickles, sold them and brought back orders for sickles that were specifically designed to be suitable for the areas where the farmers lived.
